Jared getting ready to sled in our backyard.Since Iris was with us for the week before Christmas and had to go back to her mom's house on Christmas Day, we decided to open the gifts (except for ones that Santa would bring) little by little so that she could enjoy them throughout the week.
On Christmas Eve, we went to Jungle Jim's during the day and then all went sledding in our backyard after dinner. Jared hauled snow all the way to the top of the hill so that we could sled from the highest spot. Iris and I made it to the fence at the bottom of the hill. After sledding, we came in for hot chocolate and then the kids put their pajamas on so that they could get ready for Santa. Kiran and Iris fell asleep watching a movie, but Adrian planted himself on the couch in front of the Christmas tree and was determined to stay up until Santa arrived. He said that he watched a movie once where a boy was awake when Santa came and Santa smiled at the boy. Eventually exhaustion got the upper hand and Adrian headed up to his room, giving Santa a chance to come down the chimney.
Adrian and Iris woke up at 3 am and checked to see the presents in the stockings and under the tree. They came to let us know that Santa had arrived, and we told them to go back to sleep until morning. When we woke up, they had arranged all of the presents and stocking contents in piles for each person.
