We stopped by Furburbia (a Park City animal rescue center) to show Kiran some animals and found Kona waiting there, ready to come home with us. I had always wanted to have a Samoyed, but didn't want a dog with a double layered coat to suffer in the Utah summer heat. Kona, an American Eskimo, looks just like a minature Samoyed, without the thick coat. His name means "golden coast" or "lady" in Polynesian. It was given to him at the shelter and we thought it suited him perfectly. He's a beautiful, already trained 2-year-old. Interestingly, his breed comes from Pomerania, the region that my ancestors came from. Welcome to the family Kona!
